New Era for Lovat’s Engineering

Mike and Pam the new owners

A leading name in Scotland’s catering sector for over 30 years, Lovat’s Group has big plans for the future under the new ownership of Mike and Pam Floyd. The entrepreneurial couple took over the Kirkcaldy-based business earlier this year, acquiring the Group from Lovat Turnbull who established the family firm back in 1989.

Lovat’s Group specialise in catering engineering and refrigeration services for a multitude of clients, including Fife Council, West Lothian Council and University of St Andrews. The multi-million-pound business employs over 35 staff and has already been actively recruiting to support their expansion plans

Managing Director Mike Floyd is well-known in the facilities management industry, having previously been with Atalian Servest and Arthur McKay, before taking over Lovat’s with his wife Pam (who has background in HR and Project Management).

The couple are focused on retaining the reputational excellence the business is known for, while extending their reach into full facilities management services, with a particular eye on the net zero agenda.

Hi, I’m Mike Floyd the MD of Lovat’s Group

If you have a question or need some assistance please get in touch.

“The hospitality and catering sectors have been hard hit by the pandemic” says Mike, “but many have used the opportunity to re-think their business models and re-shape their operations. I believe agility and sustainability are more important than ever before and, by embracing innovation, the sector has the potential to not just survive, but thrive.

I think we’re really beginning to see the value in local communities and the circular economy. When we start with what’s on our own doorstep, it develops strong foundations and a real sense of collective responsibility. Especially in terms of things like supply chains, net zero targets and changing customer expectations – we all need to evolve.

Lovat’s has an exceptionally strong core business and we’ve been working closely with clients to respond to the challenges they’re facing. We’re also looking to the future and extending our services into full facilities management, taking a holistic approach which will bring clients increased simplicity, flexibility, and value. My goal is to build on Lovat’s recognised expertise to become the leading FM name in Scotland – while staying true to our roots of personal service, continual innovation and a strong sense of social responsibility.”

Note to news desks: Lovat’s Group is based in Kirkcaldy and works with public and private sector clients all over Scotland. The business employs 35 staff and has an annual turnover of £3.5m (2020/21). They invest in local communities through apprenticeships, sponsorships, and charitable support, donating over £100,000 over the last five years to a wide range of local groups and causes.

For further information or interview, please contact Mike Floyd.
